A Painted wood-paneled French Bathroom in a Brentwood LA house

This perspective pencil rendering was drawn of the cypress paneled Family Room for a house in Tennessee . We did all of the working drawings and inspected the construction of the house for 5 years for the CEO ( and his wife ) of one of the top ten Fortune 500 Companies. We were never allowed to have it photographed or published .
Note : the matched sinker heart-cypress came from the Okeefenokee Swamps in Florida, and was handled and processed by the renowned Florida Millwork outfit Goodwin and Company .

A side view of a Greek Revival porch which demonstrates the correct manner of the route of the front gutter’s downspout across the Entablature’s frieze - painted white of course . the vertical downspout on the brick is then properly painted the color of the brick .
Downspouts should never be mounted on classical columns - best not to have gutters .
Of course , concerning columns on a classical flat roof portico , the downspouts can go inside columns or within the house wall .
This is a serious mistake many architects are making now concerning the handling of rainwater .

A modern house in the South for a Chinese couple both of whose parents escaped Red China( that’s what it was referred to at the time they escaped ) for Taiwan . Then both of the parents eventually ended up in San Francisco and Brooklyn respectively . This couple and clients were one of my very best that had the privilege to work for .

All furniture is antique and of the Greek Revival period . Interior Decorating by Charme Tate Interiors. All period furnishings for the entire house were purchased at auctions over a 2 year period . The rug was custom-made to Charme’s design .

rafter tails , heart pine lintels , etc.
This project was featured in the book New Old Houses , which then gave birth to the magazine of the same name .
